Rutini Encuentro Malbec 2015, Mendoza Valley. Many believe the best Malbec grapes in Mendoza today are being grown in the La Consulta area. Our vines in this highly coveted region reach ages of up to 65 years. The concentrated yields produced by these vines, combined with the high altitude, cool air and intense sunshine in this region, create grapes with rich, complex fruit character, deep colour and smooth, ripe tannins. Felipe Rutini Malbec has a concentrated nose with elements of wild berries, tobacco and vanilla. The palate is full, with rich black fruit flavors and a long, lingering finish with a touch of black pepper spice.0.00 AUD
Very intense red with violet tinges. Red fruits (cherry, currant) and a touch of plum are alive in the nose in this very accomplished red.
French oak imparts toasted notes, while the American barrel extends its classic vanilla. Full bodied palate yet refined, thanks to its concentrated fruit character buttressed by a tannic structure characteristic of Cahors reds.

The clusters from which this red wine was made come from our vineyards in Altamira, from a classified plot (Clone 104), the preferred grape of our 26 different selections of Malbec.
Grape yield on the plot is low, and they are harvested when at the optimum degree of ripeness, meaning we obtain a highly concentrated, aromatic wine, resulting in floral notes on the nose with a predominance of violet and lavender and a distinct anise character.
These notes combine with others, such as hints of cocoa and toast.
Firm and round tannins are noticeable on the palate. Fresh and lingering finish.

Vineyard Estates: Finca Drummond and Finca de Los Andes in Lujon de Cuyo and Altamira in Uco Valley. Terroir and Altitude: Drummond, at 980 meters above sea level; ungrafted grapevines grow on shallow, very permeable sandy silt soils. Perdriel, at 980 meters above sea level; shallow, stony soils of great drainage. Altamira, at 1,100 meters above sea level; ungrafted grapevines grow on sandy loam soils set on massive calcareous blocks. Planting Year: The Malbec vines date from 1928-1930. The Cabernet Sauvignon in Perdriel was planted in 1994. Varietal selections: Malbec Lujon and Altamira, Cabernet Sauvignon clone 337, Petit Verdot Margaux selection. Yield: between 4,500 kilos and 5,500 kilos per hectare.

Nose: Complex, elegant and very intense. The wine shows a perfect combination of fresh red fruit such as black cherries, raspberries and blackberries. Spice touches and licorice hints contribute complexity. The ageing in French oak masterfully integrates subtle vanilla and caramel nuances.

Mendel Semillon is the maximum expression of this old white grapevine in a still wine. It presents marked varietal notes such as white flowers and honey, as well as some herbaceous and tropical fruit notes that give it complexity. Its passage through oak provides it with scents of coconut, soft smokes, and great volume and smoothness in the mouth. It is a complex, elegant, and very pleasant wine to drink.0.00 AUD

Mendel Unus is the perfect combination of Cabernet Sauvignon and Malbec. The Cabernet Sauvignon, with its well-present and ripe tannins, is part of the wine's structure, and the Malbec contributes by giving it complexity, unctuosity, and body. The resulting wine is very complex, intense, full-bodied, but especially elegant and balanced.

Nose: Complex and multi-layered. Before being swirled, the wine exhibits fresh fruit notes like black cherries, plums, blackberries and cassis. Once swirled, it displays spices such as pink peppercorn, cedarwood, chocolate notes, vanilla and blond tobacco.
Mouth: It is a harmonious and mouth-filling wine which feels meaty and unctuous, with refined and round tannins.
The Cabernet Sauvignon in the blend contributes tannic structure and a spicy core while the Malbec offers unctuousness, roundness and fruit and the Petit Verdot, body and licorice. This is very balanced, extremely young and fruit-driven. This has the Cachapoal brightness and light, still somehow covered by the baby fat that needs to be rendered by time in bottle. I should taste 20 years of wines like this to understand where they are coming from and where they will go.
